Product Architecture

ARulesXL is a full business rule engine integrated with Excel's spreadsheet engine. The integration is implemented as an Excel Add-In which allows the rule engine to share Excel's spreadsheet user interface.

The files that comprise ARulesXL are:

• arules.* - The ARules rule engine.
• arulesxl.xla - The Excel Add-In integrating the ARules engine with Excel.

API Architecture

The ARulesXL rule engine can also be embedded in any Web or stand-alone application. The architecture is similar to the Excel Add-in, and looks like this:

Your application calls the ARulesXL API (Application Programming Interface) to load compiled rule sets, assert the input data and parameters and then issue queries and obtain results. This is described in the ARulesXL API Manual.
