A rule set is a range of cells on a spreadsheet, which ARulesXL will draw a border around.
The first cell in a rule set range contains the name of the rule set.
The intermediate cells contain rules, decision tables, comments, and functions used to build rules (e.g. RCell(), RArray())
The name of the rule set is also an Excel name, whose value is the range of the rule set.
The font color and border style and color around the first cell in a rule set determines how the rest of the rule set is displayed. You can change background colors, font style (e.g. bold, italic), font name, alignment and text/number formatting (e.g. currency, date) for the rest of the cells individually.
If you want to increase the size of a rule set, simply insert more rows and/or columns into the range with the Insert command. You can delete cells from your rule set using the Edit | Delete... command.
To rename a ruleset, just edit the rule set name at the top of the rule set. You will need to change any RQuery()
functions that used the old ruleset name.
If you want to delete a rule set and all its rules, highlight all the cells in the rule set and press the Del key, use Edit | Delete command.
You can also remove a rule set using ARulesXL | Remove Rule Set. This turns the contents of the cells in the rule set range into plain text. You can convert them back to a rule set by selecting the cells and using the ARulesXL | New Rule Set... command.
To move a rule set, first use ARulesXL | Remove Rule Set to turn it into plain text. Then use Edit | Cut and Edit | Paste to move the text to a new location. Finally, select the rule set name and all the rules and use ARulesXL | New Rule Set... to turn the text back into a rule set.
Blank lines are ignored in a rule set.
